What does the Chippewa PTO do?

We are a non-for-profit parent organization that supplies the Chippewa Middle School community with resources that enhance every student's school experience.

Can anyone be a member?

Absolutely!  We welcome all of the parents/guardians of Chippewa students, as well as Chippewa teachers and staff, to participate in any way they can.

How do I become a PTO member?

School registration in August is the primary opportunity for families to become members.  The cost is only $5 per family!  Enrollment is ongoing during the school year.

How much fundraising does the PTO conduct each year?

As few as possible!  We understand that money is tight, and we try to not bombard the Chippewa
community with constant fundraisers.  They are limited to a select few.  We sell Spirit Wear (athletic
clothing with the Chippewa logo) during the beginning of schoolthen again in the spring,
Taffy Apple Sales in the fall, host bake sales, plus our largest fundraiser, the Bowling Bash.  We need your
help to make each one successful, so that we can limit the  amount of asking we do during the year.

How much do I have to help?  I don't have a lot of extra time.

We understand that your time is precious, but we can't do it without you!   Consider volunteering once,
twice or a few times a school year.  Even one hour of time will help.  Click here for more
volunteering
information.  Some opportunities can even be done from home!

Where does my membership fee and fundraising money go?

   PBIS (Positive
   Behavioral
   Intervention Systems)
  We support the
  principal and teacher's
  efforts reward students'
  good behavior.

Cultural Arts Assemblies

Twice a year, students are able
to enjoy performances  conducted
by a variety of artists.  Assemblies
can be about anything that
exposes students to the fine arts.

Other programs like:

The PTO hosts dances for students,
landscaping and beautification
efforts, funding special teacher
projects, and supporting our
community in any way we can!

I've heard of an organization named "COPE"... what is that?

Chippewa PTO is a fairly new name for us!  We were known as "COPE" which stood for  "Chippewa
Organization for Parents and Educators".  In order to have better recognition of what we do as a parent
body, we've decided to make the switch!
